Max Day Lift Recap: Crushing Goals & Setting PR’s!

This past lift session was one for the books! Our athletes have been hitting the weight room three days a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5–7 p.m., and Saturdays from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. building strength, technique, and confidence.

Today’s group was a solid mix of alumni and current players—our three alumni are heading off to Rice, South Burlington, and Winooski High Schools—and we also had a few younger athletes moving up from sixth to seventh grade, mastering the fundamentals so they can lift heavier and smarter as they develop.

Today, we saw some incredible personal records: Chris and Lemar both hit 280 lbs on the deadlift, and Coach Bryan crushed 325 lbs on bench! Alumni also brought the energy, Chris later maxed 215 on bench, and Lemar matched him again with that 280 lb deadlift. Shoutout to everyone showing up and putting in the work!

Even our younger athletes got in on the action, learning the fundamentals of lifting and preparing to take their strength to the next level as they move up to seventh grade. It’s exciting to see the mix of seasoned lifters and rising talent pushing each other every session.

Weight Adjusted Highlights (percent of body weight):

  • Bench Press: Vasile 132%, Chris 125%, Lemar 117%, Liam 100%, Thompson 85%

  • Deadlift: Vasile 209%, Lemar 198%, Chris 162%, Liam 136%, Thompson 103%

And yes, the post-lift fuel didn’t last long, 60 chicken wings were demolished, leaving just 1.5 pizzas standing!

Lifts continue through April and May as we build up to our final Max Day Lift on Saturday, May 2nd. After that, we’ll take a short break to rest up before gearing up for summer clinics in June.

Big thanks to everyone, players, alumni, and younger athletes, for bringing energy, focus, and fun every session. Let’s keep lifting! 🔥
