Bio

The South Burlington Dolphins were founded in 1967 by Rene LaBerge, who started coaching youth football on a field next to his property. Over the past 58 years, Rene has dedicated countless hours to mentoring over 3,000 young players, instilling values like teamwork, education, and personal responsibility. The program welcomes all players, fostering a sense of community and pride while achieving 13 state championships in a 17 team league.

Rene and his wife, Linda, have shown extraordinary dedication to their players, offering not only guidance but also opening their home to those in need and supporting their education and aspirations. Rene’s efforts have transformed youth football in Vermont, expanding the league from 4 flag football teams with 30 players to over 50 tackle teams with more than 2,100 players, leaving a lasting impact on generations of players and coaches.

To ensure the program’s sustainability, Rene established the South Burlington Dolphins Foundation, emphasizing financial support and volunteerism. His contributions to youth sports have earned him numerous awards and recognitions, solidifying his legacy as a cornerstone of the South Burlington community.

The Dolphins continue to thrive as a symbol of teamwork, dedication, and excellence on and off the field.
